This term I have been working on a performance film called 'Domesticity Unleashed' which will explore domestic restriction, space and how it is used and abused by men and women. Women and how they use space domestically. I will be looking at other women performance artists; Yoko Ono, Pippi Lotti Rist and Adrian Piper.
I began by making a protype of my poster for my film just to play with ideas of what this might look like and how I might promote this on social media sites.
Primary Research: 'Domesticity Unleashed' form is here so you can see the original form and I will add responses once I have these.
My three designs were:
These are just mock up ideas in the real design I will be using my own work. I personally quite like the silhouette however I do think the design is too tame and I do want this to have a little more aggression to it. The second design I actually quite disclike as it is too soft and illustrative and does not really represent my project. The third design is much more like the idea and concept and Using my own image this has some potential.
Here are my responses:
This is for the first design
The responses to this were good and I agree with comments about this looking like a beauty product with the black silhouette.
Most respondents' thought it was aimed at women however I did make a mistake on the form here so the last response should be disregarded!
These responses were for the second design with colours and illustration. Two people preferred this design and one preferred the first. I still believe this design is unsuitable for the performance art film but the responses are useful.
These responses were for the third design, my favourite design. The text is not clear at the bottom and as stated I will use my own work in the final design these are just mock up and I do need to think more about the text and font and how I will place this.
Most respondents' thought this was more in line with a performance film.
In terms of how it made people feel. Most thought it was technically good but they were not excited so there is something I need to think about!
